Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE ICA10/94370690 AB INTRODUCTION: The Body Builders (youth) of Madras was recognised as an interest group for AIDS prevention by us. OBJECTIVE: 1) We will be able to plan and implement an AIDS prevention intervention programme with the body builders. 2) There will be greater participation by the body builders in every stage of this project. METHODOLOGY: 1) Knowledge, Attitude, Behaviour survey using Random sampling. 2) Series of interactive group discussions aimed at eluciting information regarding perception of personal/group vulnerability of STD/HIV/AIDS by peers. A body building competition was also conducted to bring about a conductive atmosphere. LESSONS LEARNT: 1) Sex & Sexuality is taboo for discussion. 2) Involvement of peers reduces this inhibition. 3) Addressing other felt needs like nutrition & steroid use enhances community faith.
